Samantha Henthorn Thanks Anna, my favourite is always the one I'm currently writing. But if I had to choose I would say 'Edna and Genevieve Escape From Curmudgeon Avenue ' which is book 3 of the series. It was fun to write and now that the audiobook is finished, even funnier to listen to.
Samantha Henthorn It is my occupation! I am compelled to write, to finish the story so that I can write the next one... until I have run out of ideas. Then I can have a rest... sigh!
Samantha Henthorn I would go to Curmudgeon Avenue and after giving Harold Goatshed a filthy look for being such a nincompoop, I would ask Edna and Edith what the ending to the series will be.... because I haven't written it yet and need to get a wriggle on!
Samantha Henthorn Marina Johnson, Sharon Booth's new witch-lit one. I heard a rumour Lizzie Lamb is writing a new book... Anything I haven't already read by Jessica Redland. Marian Keyes and Sophie Kinsella (I have neglected trad. published writers in favour of indie authors for the past few years so I have some catching up to do!)
Plus the 100+ books on my reading list... happy reading everyone!
Samantha Henthorn Revenge. Oops! Did I really say that? Not really, the best thing about being a writer is being able to pace myself and work to my own time... my own boss. Also, discovering surprise people that I never thought would read my books do!
Samantha Henthorn I have a problem with distraction, too many ideas and so on. This makes me sound a bit thought disordered, but I am able to control it by hand-writing ideas down in several note books. Once I have done this, I feel 'clear' to write. I did write a blog post about it : https://samanthahenthornfindstheright.... I would say if you have writer's block, then chill your boots and come back to it at a later date.
Samantha Henthorn In 2014, I joined a creative writing class at my local library. I had recently been retired due to ill health (I've got MS) from my 20 year nursing career. Anyway, one of the first short stories I wrote was called 'Winter', this included the characters Harold, his wife Edith and her sister Edna. I got the idea for these curmudgeonly characters after a man was rude to me in a supermarket car park! I was parked in the disabled parking bay, and he wanted my spot! And I tell you what, he could walk very quickly too! I thought pah! And Harold was born. Me, on the other hand, I'm six books later and part way through a creative writing degree.
Samantha Henthorn I am currently working on my next novel 'Curmudgeon Avenue: The Harold and Edith Adventures'. Set in Whitefield, near Manchester UK, this is the story of a Victorian Terrace house that does not like its new owners. I plan to make this a three part series.
