It comes to me automatically. When I look around me, I see stories everywhere. In my mind, everything has a fantastic story behind it, from the mundane to less common things.
I ask questions. What if this or that happens? How would it happen? Then I throw some people in it, and some of them are based on people I know - in various stages of relationship with me from enemies to close friends and family. I let it pan out that way.
I guess what I'm getting at is that I'm just as much discovering stories like an archaeologist as I am fleshing them out.

A short stories collection. Expect all kinds of genre.
But all of them will be horror one way or the other. There's no way I'm letting you go so easily. :)

If you want to do it, you do it. Nike's slogan is right. Don't sit there wondering if you should or not. As far as I know, you live only once.
But take your time when you need to. Don't cut corners. Build up your skill in the craft, try your hand at some simple stories first. Apply for courses and classes. Do research, not just into the craft of writing, but also into the industry, editing, marketing, everything that goes into a book.
And when you feel that you're ready, go for the kill-shot: write your debut book.

You get to tell a story, giving birth to so many characters, and one day send them off to 'school', where they will be given grades for their performance. It's like being a father - coming from someone who has yet to be a father.
Moreover, you get to find fun in an activity that almost the entire population of the world finds arduous and even damaging, sanity-wise.

I keep going. I just keep going. Yeah, I'll nail myself to my couch if I have to. Just keep writing, even if it's at a few words a minute. Before I know it, the part of the story that's been dragging me down would be over, and then it's back to business as usual.
Maybe one day when I'm rich, I should pay someone to flog me every time I stop :D
