Whenever I get stuck, I work on something else for a little while. On the rare occasions that the well has run so dry that even that won't get the writing flowing, I engage in some kind of creative play. My go-to is an RPG, preferably with friends, where I'm still making up characters and stories, but it's totally for fun. With the pressure of a deadline or the expectations of an editor taken away, the words begin to flow again.

My best advice for aspiring writers is not only to keep writing but to share what you write -- with friends, on a blog, in a writers' group, or anywhere else you can get honest feedback. We grow as writers not merely through repetition but through feedback.
