Mary Rodman Spring and summer are our busy seasons on the farm, so I don't currently have any plans for specific books to read.
Mary Rodman Since I don't write fiction, I will take another twist on this one. I think every day we live is a mystery. We can make our plans, but God directs our steps. (Proverbs 20:24). We have to be willing to accept the fact that God doesn't reveal each day to us in advance. It is called walking by faith! Personally, I'm glad we don't know what may happen tomorrow. It makes my relationship with Him stronger!
Mary Rodman I am currently writing devotions that will help us clean our spiritual closets. Topics such as...fear, insecurity, unworthy, unloved, pride, etc.
Mary Rodman It is many different ways. Sometimes it is location, other times it is from an event. I think you can take every story in your life and find the lesson from God. Just yesterday I wrote a devotion called Flowermonia. I was playing doctor with my granddaughter when we heard ambulance sirens. She was afraid they were coming for her since I had diagnosed her with a serious illness of Flowermonia. There is a lesson there for all of us, and that is to face our fears in life. That is an example of what inspires me to write.
Mary Rodman For me it is simple. When I'm writing, I am doing God's work. What started out as my form of searching for answers, journaling, drawing closer to God, turned into a hobby of writing. Now that hobby has turned into a dream. God has blessed me through this book. I have had the opportunity to meet so many wonderful Christians. My prayer is that the book somehow touches each and every reader and helps them to Bloom in their walk with Christ. That is what is great about being a writer of a Christian devotional book.
Mary Rodman Since I write devotions, I don't worry about writer's block. I totally rely on God. The closer I am walking with Christ, the more I see God in the little things in life, and therefore the more devotions I write. If the inspiration isn't truly from God, it just won't flow.
Mary Rodman Writing devotions has been a passion of mine for many years. Along the way many of my friends and family members encouraged me to publish them. So this past year, Bloom Where You're Planted, became a reality as I compiled them into book form. God has truly blessed me throughout this project.
