Aaron Rogge On a larger scale I'd say that the entire experience of growing up in Florida made me a better writer. Though I don't live there anymore, I feel as though Florida gave me a taste for the offbeat, unpredictable, and "base" nature of humans. With respect to my high school experience, I was fortunate to meet an extraordinarily wide group of people that I wouldn't have if I'd been somewhere more homogeneous. The different desires and trajectories of the people I met still make my mind spiral off into daydreams. It's a similar lesson to what Vonnegut explains, "Everyone (in your story) should want something, even if it's just a cup of water."
Aaron Rogge I read! An author frequently needs to recharge their batteries.
Aaron Rogge I am in the final proofing stages for my Nashville-noir story "Detour Hotel" and I am storyboarding the next book, which does not yet have a title but ties together three women across three decades.
