Tye Jiles Finding out more about my paternal grandmother's life and family. I know nothing about her side of the family, her children don't seem to know anyone except for one cousin and the paper trail of her parents' end when she was less than a year old. It's a huge mystery because no one has any information about extended family or anything. It's like they never existed. It makes me wonder how disconnected they were from each other that no one even knows their names.
Tye Jiles Honestly, I pick up a book and read. I am prone to reading multiple books at once so I can get inspiration. It always helps to get me out of that funk. It doesn't stick around very long if I know the direction I want to go in.
Tye Jiles Being able to share your voice with people that may never meet you. Spreading it across the world to regions you may never visit. Leaving behind a piece of yourself long after you are gone.
Tye Jiles Be authentic. Find your voice and use it. Find the time to write daily, it truly helps. Create an outline and work from it, it is the best way to make sure you tell the story accurately. Don't give up! Writing is hard and it takes time, don't rush through it so that you can stay in love with the story. Have fun with it, don't forget to enjoy what you're doing!
Tye Jiles Next year, I will be releasing a collection of short stories. The stories are about a group of women who are suffering from abuse but have not told one another. The stories range from physical to verbal abuse and the factors in which they stay or go. My goal is to shine on a light on the affect of being silent. I have seen so many women who have experienced this and when I was younger I experienced verbal abuse that really messed with my self-esteem for years. The stories are raw and personal to me and hopefully will be inspiring to all.
Tye Jiles I've always loved writing! I am a huge introvert but when I was younger I didn't know what that was. I thought I was shy like everyone told me but I really did just love being alone and reading. I used to write in journals, notebooks, napkins, paper bags, anything I could get my hands on. I am inspired now by everything that goes on around me. I am inspired by my friends, my children, my husband, my family, the world and the different cultures. Lately by my heritage, finding out where my family originated from has been truly my biggest inspiration.
Tye Jiles I had over 250 poems that I lost in 2014 and I was devastated that they couldn't be restored. I had to start all over and write my story again. I went through a rough couple of years, I had some terrible moments and some great moments so I wrote it about it all.
