Timothy C. Sayer I came up with the outline for Cast Out of Darkness several years ago while I was out fly fishing. It started out as a short story but grew into a novel when I realized I couldn't tell the story I wanted to tell using only 50,000 words. Many chapters in the book were inspired by actual events in my life, although none of those chapters completely mirrored those events.
Timothy C. Sayer I'm usually really into my writing when I break from my original outline and the story starts to take a path I never expected. That's when things get really exciting!
Timothy C. Sayer I'm actually in the process of writing three different outlines. None of which are a sequel to Cast Out of Darkness, which I consider a complete story novel. Now it's just a matter of deciding which project I want to take on full-time.
Timothy C. Sayer Go for it! Anyone can write and in my opinion, everyone should. Even if it's just for yourself. Put pen to paper and see what happens.
Timothy C. Sayer The best thing about being a writer is the freedom to create. Nothing makes me feel more empowered than to create characters, dialogue, and exciting/emotional sequences.
Timothy C. Sayer Typically when I have writer's block, I'll go back and proofread chapters that I'm already finished with until I reach the block point. Usually, by that time...I know exactly what I want to write.
