Sometimes, we tend to write BASED on our experiences. So much so the storytelling becomes diary-like. Nothing bad about it but no one likes to read something that’s one-sided, to begin with. It's a recipe for a boring narrative.
Next, when you write, you wrap your focus on “what will my character do?” It allows for an author to be introspective and retrospective. Think about a similar situation and draw inspiration from that as opposed to writing about it. Then package it based on your character’s character. If you write that way, it does not become too vain. It becomes more realistic.

It is not a fictional world, to begin with. I want to be trashed into the world of Crazy Rich Asians. I want to experience the glamor, the sophistication, to be invited to parties, get a front-seat view of the latest trends during Fashion Week, and just experience everything I read in the books. It's a crazy world if you strip the negative criticisms and just focus on being realistic that some people are lucked and meant to be born into it.

I read...a lot. Watch movies or TV series. Sometimes, listening to music helps or talking to friends. But reading books helps me get into the vibe of writing something even if it's just a draft.

I have a friend who wants her life immortalized through a book. She's a writer herself but with motherhood and fending for her little family, writing a book would barely make it through her schedule. So I am writing a book for her, drawing inspirations from Colleen Hoover and Nicholas Sparks.
