E.R. Blake Life is a mystery! When the day dawns, what will unfold is yet to be determined. I enjoy watching each day reveal what it will be with each choice I make, each person I encounter, each word uttered that will effect either myself or others. How is that for a deep answer?

Reflecting on my past, I can see that there are themes in my adolescence that could make a good plotline. Certainly a few of my life experiences that could be termed as "mysterious" are within my new work "The Exile Carpet: Dreamscapes." Pondering this for a moment, the greatest mystery for me is the "what if" in life and in fiction. To sit back with a tall glass of tea on a spring day and wonder what would happen if the slightest detail in history or daily life was altered.

Try it! Here are some examples I like to ponder.....what would you come up with?
1. What if America had not won the Revolutionary War?
2. What if the Library at Alexandria had not burned to the ground?
3. What would the world be like without diplomacy or Allied Nations?
4. What if Hitler had won Word War II?
5. What if war never existed?
6. What would happen if the meek DID inherit the Earth?

All of these could be excellent plotlines....sit, think, let your imagination take hold and see what the next bend around the corner reveals.

My own mystery has been life itself and I can't wait to see what happens next!
E.R. Blake Inspiration comes in many forms! There are moments during an average day when a muse strikes at the most unlikely times.....I tend to carry small notebooks around with me to jot down ideas, a conversation I had with someone, a character idea, an event that I watched unfold or a storyline that popped into my head while doing the dishes or changing sheets....my two least favorite jobs in the whole wide world, however the mundane tasks allow my brain the freedom to fly out of reality into the realm of "what if." I LOVE the realm of possibility!! The freedom to alter a state of history with the slight turn of the wrist is pure bliss. It makes me ponder how our choices effect what our lives are like and become. Explore the "what if" in your life and those around you.....there is inspiration in each breath, each turn of seasons, each day....we merely have to open our eyes to possibility.
E.R. Blake Never stop writing.....keep a notebook with you, beside your bed, in your bag and jot down ideas! You never know when a bad idea will become a brilliant title or story!
E.R. Blake I am currently on the story edit portion of the next book in the series....."The Exile Carpet: Restoration" I have met some tremendous individuals who have read the first book and in all honesty am revamping some parts of the continuation of the story based on their comments!
E.R. Blake Creating a world and characters where readers want to escape to!
E.R. Blake Ah...a common problem among us all I am afraid. I tend to deal with each scenario on an individual basis. Is it a block, a procrastination or a bit of laziness? If it is a true block, I step away, go over some notes and see if there I something that jogs it loose.....unless I need to scream at the computer screen...which sometimes helps....see chapter where character screams at computer screen! Procrastination and laziness are dealt with in the best possible way.....I look over my shoulder at my writing partner and pick up her favorite toy and we spend play time puppy style until the computer begs for attention once more.
