I've started a new memoir about the intersection between adoption and the orphan story and what Jesus said before he left the earth, "I will never leave you orphaned" As a new adoptive parent and director of a foundation that provides grants for kids living in international orphanages now, I have a lot to reflect on.

I have a writing room in my house. I don't know how to live without one another. There's a great view of the trees outside my window. There's a lot of natural light. I sit in a big oversized chair. And the space invites me into be quiet, gather my thoughts and begin to put words on the computer screen. All creative people need sacred space.

I never felt comfortable joining support groups or sharing about my infertility widely online when I was in the thick of it. But, I still needed support. To cope, because I am a reader, I often ordered every book on infertility on Amazon I could find. But none of the stories I read came in a voice that felt like mine. One day I decided the answer came in writing my own book.
