Ariana M. Friedlander There were many reasons I felt compelled to write A Misfit Entreprenuer's Guide to Building a Business Your Way. The thing that inspired me to follow thru on my original intentions was participating in the Lean Startup Conference in 2015. While I was there I met a number of entrepreneur’s who confided in me that they were completely unprepared for the emotional roller coaster ride of entrepreneurship. Furthermore, I was the first person they shared that with. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.
As I say in the book, “Entrepreneurship is an emotional journey . . . of mastery."
I wrote this book to lift the veil and shed light on the emotionally turbulent reality of the Misfit Entrepreneurs journey. I believe the real reason that most people quit their entrepreneurial endeavors to get a J-O-B is because they don’t have the emotional bandwidth to persevere. It is a hard, crazy ride, filled with intense ups and downs. But it is all worth it because it is also incredibly fulfilling if you stick with it.
I wrote this book because I couldn’t, in good conscious, let more Misfit Entrepreneur's suffer in silence and solitude any longer. Learning how to manage the ups and downs so you can honor yourself while staying the course is one of the greatest challenges the Misfit Entrepreneur faces. But that’s not all this book is about, there is so much more to it. We grapple with a lot of complex ideas and provide an overview of the cutting edge concepts being taught by thought leaders in entrepreneurship, personal/professional development and innovation. At the same time, the premise of the book is also really simple; entrepreneurship is a journey of mastery and there are three things every Misfit Entrepreneur needs to practice to be the master their own journey:
- Understanding Yourself (AKA The Rider)
- Understanding Business (AKA The Bike)
- Being on a Meaningful Journey (AKA The Bike Ride)
This book guides readers in charting their own path as Misfit Entrepreneur's while offering camaraderie that you’re not alone!
