Veronica Strachan Chooks are an Australian/New Zealand (and I think British) colloquial name for chickens (it can encompass both hens and roosters). :)

What’s the best thing about being a writer?
Veronica Strachan Feeling the words drop onto the page. Looking up and realising your story is flowing, the word count is growing, there's magic in it.
Making stuff up, and putting a little bit of who you are in every piece.
Working in the quiet of the early morning when all the ideas are still shiny and new.

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?
Veronica Strachan Write. You have to write. Anything and everything. Write something every day.
If you don't have a heap of time to work on your stories, take a little time to reflect on and craft whatever else you are writing, emails, reports. Sharpen up your grammar, tighten your language.
And keep working on your writing, go to a workshop, read good books on writing and just good books.

Veronica Strachan I've just completed draft 3 of Ochre Dragon. It's Book 1 in The Opal Dreaming Chronicles.
Here's a hint.
The Cosmic Mother's cast out children plot to destroy humanity, unravelling the threads of time and magic. Betrayed by friends, hunted by enemies, Alli, Merindah, Dee and their soulmate dragons are prophesied to unite to save the Cosmos or unleash Armageddon.
