Lawrence A. Colby Hi Mansel- it’s a part of the story! Thanks for asking!
Lawrence A. Colby Super question! I always work in experiences from locations in different countries, situations from the cockpit or Pentagon, or current events straight out of the headlines. These are not necessarily mysteries, but plot points and characters developed from real life experiences. Mysteries could also include how emerging technologies work…complicated and complex but written in an entertaining way. Next book includes a mystery inside a thriller!
Lawrence A. Colby Thanks very much, Robert! I just uploaded some new book trailer videos to this site, as well as my site at ColbyAviationThrillers.com

I am awaiting clearance to publish and expect the release next month (Sept). Thanks for asking!

All the best,
Cheese
Lawrence A. Colby I am a fan of the early Apollo and shuttle missions, and enjoyed The Martian very much. This was the 2011 science fiction book and 2015 film. It incorporates both fiction and non-fiction (NASA) in one remarkable story. To be an astronaut is a dream for many military pilots, including mine.
Lawrence A. Colby Do a little at a time. What worked for me was a few pages a day, early in the morning, maybe a bit more on the weekend. After a month, you would have 60+ pages of your book.

Don't give up...just keep at it. A few grains of sand do not add up to much, but after awhile, a lot of grains of sand make up a whole beach. In a few months of writing, you could be a few hundred pages in.
Lawrence A. Colby In searching for a story about a main character from Air Force Reserve, I could not find one in any fiction work or movies. In thinking through this, I thought perhaps there should be one. There were plenty of movies about active component military members from all the services, but nothing about an Air Force Reserve pilot.

And that's how Air Force Reserve Captain Ford Stevens was born in "The Devil Dragon Pilot".
Lawrence A. Colby I can take an idea from driving to a location for work, listening to a story, or looking around DC at all the Monuments. From there, I match it up with something in my aviation or Washington background, and create fiction.

Best thing? It's fun!
Lawrence A. Colby I'm a marathon runner, and the time spent on training for a race allows me to think of storylines and character development. The white space on my schedule allows time for an idea to settle in and expand upon.
Lawrence A. Colby I am about 1/3 of the way through Book 2, titled "The Black Scorpion Pilot". It picks up where "The Devil Dragon Pilot" leaves off, and should be published this summer, 2017.

Most of the main characters will be back, with continued twists and turns in the Ford Stevens Book Series.
