Try not to get discouraged or sidetracked by the demands of other people. Carving out time for yourself to write and think is not selfish; you can still be a loving family member, a good friend, a reliable employee. I didn't realize this until a few years ago. So, while I knew from age 12 that I wanted to write fiction, I didn't complete my first novel until almost 50 years later. I relish every moment now, so I advise - if at all possible - that you not postpone the dream.
