For Butterfly Sea, my next picture book, inspiration came from my experiences with my first camera and my work as a volunteer butterfly seeker, documenting butterflies in British Columbia as a citizen scientist. The sibling story is inspired by my work with children as a nature preschool educator.

I find inspiration from every day life. As a preschool teacher, I'm around children every day and I find their ideas can be the spark to start a story. News stories, current events, and my personal interests are sources that get my creative juices flowing. I read a lot of picture books too. I find myself asking, what if?
