Like most of us, I first heard of Ferdinand Magellan in school. It was not until I began sailing my own yacht that I thought of sailing around the world. I realised how little we knew about the greatest sea voyage in history. There are many books about Magellan but not many written by sailors and, as far as I know, none by a sailor who followed his route. So....why not?
