I am working on a book about Berea College in KY. Unique in America for its history, its geography and its values
Did I mention that every talented kid who goes is under the poverty line and gets free tuition and work to pay room and board. It’s been doing that since 1892. Begun by a Southern abolitionist to educate both Black and white, men and women. All those metrics make it unique but its soul makes it special.

I had worked on this memoir and then covid hit and Wuhan was in the news and I was home. Ironically the timing seemed right to return to it.

I love to do the research and then wait for the spirit to strike. Luckily it arrives almost daily although not at the same time everyday. I am happiest at my desk.
