Orysia Dawydiak The third book in the Kira series will be published in 2018. At the end of the second book, Kira's Quest, Kira was thirteen and she had found her biological parents. Five years later, she is ready to take a huge step toward a career as marine botanist, when a strange merrow shows up in her village, and others appear in the sea. There is talk of an alliance with the foreign merrows to finally drive the finfolk out of their ancestral home, Merhaven. Kira has inherited the throne from her father who can no longer take his merrow form. That is a lot for a young merrow to take on, but it is nothing compared to what follows operation 'free Merhaven'.

Currently I am working on a dog memoir. Since this dog, Asil Akkush cannot write, and in fact is dead, I have taken the liberty of telling his story from his perspective. I've been involved with Turkish livestock guardian dogs for decades, and in the last century I co-wrote a book on these types of guardian dogs (yes, I've been around a long time). So I believe I can represent this one particular dog, his life and adventures as a travelling stud dog whelped (born) in Turkey and working his way across North America. Stay tuned!
Orysia Dawydiak Read whatever interests you, but read as much as you can, every day if possible. And write every day, just a few sentences, stray thoughts, anything at all. For many writers it is important to create a routine, set aside time on a schedule that works for you. If you know someone else who wants to write, set up a check in with each other, perhaps one day a week, where you report on your writing progress for that week. It can be helpful to be 'accountable' to someone else besides yourself, and if you are both writers, so much the better!
Orysia Dawydiak Kira's Quest is closely tied to the first book in the series, Kira's Secret. The original idea for this series came from my niece, Kira. I suggested we write a story together, so she provided a few ideas and I was off. There are secrets revealed in the first book, and more questions that need to be answered. The most recent book moves on to the search for Kira's biological parents. The questions Kira asks are related to that thirst for knowledge of where we come from, where we belong and why we are here. I am inspired by these questions from observing people around me, from my own background as the child of immigrants finding their place in a new land. I never grow tired of asking the questions, and speculating what some of those answers might be.
