Sandra Hurst I would love to live in the world of Darkover by Marion Zimmer Bradley. The concept of the Comyn (telepathic governing body) caught my imagination the first time I read the books. I can't tell you how many times growing up that I pretended to have a matrix and live in a Keepers tower. The system of feudal society and how it clashes with modern Terran technology is a constant source of conflict and wonder.
Sandra Hurst You had to ask! My TBR list is so big at the moment that I had to learn a new Japanese word to manage it! Tsundoku, the art of buying books even though you don't have time to read them! My holiday books this year include: Sabriel (Garth Nix), The Truth about Kadenburg (T.E. Rydener), The Yellow Hoods series (Adam Dreece).
Sandra Hurst My inspiration for writing often comes from the people I meet. Finding out the struggles they have and how they triumph over them, gives me ideas for the core issues of my characters and the world that can be built around them. On a more day-to-day level writing for me involves music, lots of tea and noise canceling earplugs to help shut out the Cats, Kids, and husband.
Sandra Hurst I try not to get down on myself when I'm blocked. It happens. I fall back on Dory's advice... just keep swimming, just keep swimming.
Sandra Hurst I love getting to play in other worlds. I've always been a dreamer and being able to put those dreams on paper is amazing.
Sandra Hurst Write, and keep writing. That's the only advice that matters. Don't look to be published just try to get all the words you have out and on the paper. If you don't like them later, you can change them. For now... just write.
Sandra Hurst Currently working on book 2 of the Sky Road Trilogy. D'vhan's story.
After fifteen years of serving the People as warrior leader, D’vhan feels too old to continue. The Utlaak are attacking in force overrunning several of the outlying villages, wiping out entire families. Now whispers from his past start floating around the village, threatening his authority and opening wounds he’d thought long closed.

Can this gentle warrior find a way to accept the decisions of his past and face the future with honesty? If D’vhan doesn’t find a way to win, the entire village may lose.
Sandra Hurst I've always been fascinated with the legends of the North American Indians. This, along with a long conversation with my Aunt about identity and the cost of being honest, fermented and became the world of Y'keta.
