Stephenson Holt Inspiration comes from my love of writing and a love of fictitious worlds. Thanks go mainly to an English teacher called Dewi Lewis who encouraged me tremendously.
Things heard in coffee shops also inspire. One conversation (in a novel somewhere but don't ask which one) was a conversation overheard between three women. "When she won all that money she ditched hubby and shot off around the world. She's broke now and the idiot has taken her back. It's more complicated though because her lover is back on the scene."
Stephenson Holt I'm currently working on (working title) "Skye's Limit" which is a continuation of a novel "The Boy For Two Witch Girls." Book one was a witch led adventure where the two girls were attacked and kidnapped by vampires. The boy in question marries one of the girls (no spoilers here) and Skye is the resulting child.
Skye has extra powers inherited from both parents and an arranged marriage is made for her. It's a novel about how, in the vampire world, things are different, but strangely similar to the human world.
Whether this will be a trilogy or not will depend on how book two ends, I guess.
Stephenson Holt Just start writing down what you think will be your novel. Make copious notes of thoughts and things you hear and if you get an idea for the continuation of whatever it is you're writing, write it down immediately before it leaves your brain forever.
Stephenson Holt The best thing about being a writer is being alone, at five in the morning, with a coffee on the bedside table and getting lost in the novel your writing before the rest of the world wakes up.
Stephenson Holt Writer's Block is not something I've ever come across. I've mentioned in a blog somewhere that I write a couple of chapters and edit them thoroughly while thinking about the continuation of the story. It works for me but not for everybody. I know some authors write a whole first draft before even thinking about editing but I can't do that. Maybe it's because I enjoy editing.
Stephenson Holt Over the last year the book that has influenced me the most, with regard to being in a fictional world, is The Ten Thousand Doors of January which you would have to read in order to understand my wish to live in that realm.
Stephenson Holt On my TBR list, at the top, is Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Wolf. I've tried to get into it on several occasions, without success. I've promised myself I'll persevere and hopefully learn something about writing style as I go,
On a lighter note I have Kiss Of The Vampire by Nancy Baker and Sophie: Witch Hunter by K S Marsden also on my list.
