Just keep writing. It's not easy but if it's what you feel like you must do then don't stop. Don't be discouraged. Keep going.

Creating characters and seeing how their adventures turn out.

Put my head on my kitchen table and cry why me?!! Lol. Afterwards, I pull myself together and try to do other things that I enjoy and that inspire me to be creative. I am not one of those people that write my way through. I typically draw (my other love) my way through, read my way through, and most importantly LIVE my through until I have something to say.

Ideas just pop into my head and I write them down and explore them. I think that happens for me more frequently when I am exploring myself and the world around me and seeking understanding. Once I have an idea I have to explore it. I simply can't not follow it through. I find that if I create something -- ANYTHING -- then more creative ideas flow through me. I never know the end result or if it will be worth anything. I just know that I must see it through.

My inspiration for Miracle came from a few different experiences that were all happening around the same time. I love to read and at the time I was reading The Law of Divine Compensation by Marianne Williamson which talks a lot about miracles (as does most of her work). I thought how nice it would be of some of these concepts were taught to children. Simultaneously, I was having experiences in my life that were making me cry out for a miracle while also understanding that I needed to change my perspective and understanding of what makes something miraculous. Then as if out of nowhere I was in Barnes and Noble's with my daughter and the story popped into my head. I wrote it down on a flyer from her school that I had in my purse and over the next couple of years developed the idea and voila!

I am currently working on another picture book called Love. It will be a follow up to Miracle featuring the same character but this time she is on an adventure to learn what love looks like.
