It sounds cliche, but write, write and then write some more. You only get better with practice, so be willing to make mistakes. I cringe at some of my earlier work and am my harshest critic, but it all plays a role in making you a more intuitive and better skilled writer.

The fact that you get to run with creative and seemingly outlandish ideas and create something beautiful for them!

I've been writing essays, blog posts, poetry and letters for years, but never thought I was able to compile them into one collection. After I read, 'If You Feel To Much' by Jamie Tworkowski and 'Blue Like Jazz' by Don Miller, I realised that was possible to create something beautiful from all these seemingly random pieces.
I began placing them in categories based on where I wrote each piece and what they were about, and When Hope Speaks was born. I like the fact you can open it and read about a certain place, like Nashville, before being transported to the Grand Canyon or the Australian Outback. The places I visited and people I've met have helped me to become...me. So writing these stories and sharing them felt like the most natural expression in the world.
