W.T. Watson As I mentioned in my other post, I am a lore geek. My inspiration comes from the legends, mythology and lore of the world. I have read everything from "The Fairy Faith in Celtic Countries" by WY Evans Wentz to the latest books on creatures like Sasquatch. In Book 2 of the Black Dog Case Files, I will pull in stories of UFO abduction and the outline for Book 3 has a villain that arises from the misty past of Central and South America.
W.T. Watson I am a lore geek. I love reading the legends of things that go bump in the night so, when I wanted to write an urban fantasy story with a different sort of hero, I went back to the sources. I had been reading about the Phantom Black Dog (PBD) phenomenon (most common in Britain but also seen in the US) and it struck me that I could easily make a PBD into a shapeshifter. Once that idea popped into my head, the shapeshifter needed a job and the world started to fall into place.

My villain in the first book is based on an actual case in pre-Revolutionary War France. The area around Gevaudan, France was actually haunted by a beast that killed over a hundred peasants before it was allegedly slain by a hunter named Chastel. There is a lot of mystery around what The Beast actually was with theories ranging from an actual werewolf, to a over-sized wolf, to a relict dire wolf and even an escaped hyena. Suffice to say, that I latched onto thee werewolf theory and ran with it.
W.T. Watson I am currently working on Book 2 of the Black Dog Case Files, tentatively titled "Missing Time". Book 1 had a lot to do with the lore of werewolves and Black Dogs, with an admixture of magic and Norse myth. Book 2 will keep those elements but toss in something completely different - the modern day stories of UFO abduction. Of course, I will have my own unique spin on those stories.

I have finished the first draft for a young adult novel tentatively titled "Wolfwalker". In this book, a young man discovers that he is a wolfwalker - a living avatar of the spirit of the wolf - and the novel follow him through the discovery of this earth shaking secret as well as the discovery that his best friend is not what she has always seemed. Danger lurks for these two in the form of a very large bear that is determined to drive the wolf from its territory. More as the edits progress!
