Writing. It lets my brain be in total control for a while and gives me some peace and quiet. Otherwise I constantly have this voice in my head going, "Oooh we should write about this." or "That would be an awesome story!" Non-stop, 100 miles an hour, 24 hours a day, energy of a herd of toddlers, going on and on in my head wanting to write about everything. "Can we write about that speck of glitter on the carpet?" "How about that shiny rock in the pavement." "I know, I know! We can write about the toilet. Come on, let's write about the toilet!" And on and on and on.
Writing? Silence. Focused, thoughtful, inspired, silence. It's a beautiful thing!

Inspired? I don't know exactly. My brain gets excited about stuff and won't shut up about it until I write it down. Sometimes it becomes something amazing, sometimes it's just crap! But my brain is quiet for a brief moment.

Most recently published book is Fogoyle: A Short Story and it was inspired by a flash fiction challenge issued by Chuck Wendig. I failed his challenge, sadly, but I was totally inspired, so I created my own. It has now grown into a published short story on Amazon. Fogoyle: A Short Story Two will be up for pre-order shortly, and books 4-6 are outlined and waiting for some love. If that's not inspired, I don't know what is!
If you have not read his blog, allow me to introduce you to some of the most motivating writing and inspiration to write that I have ever read. It is my honor to introduce you to the amazing and talented, Chuck Wendig If you don't click the link, you are truly missing out!

A lot honestly! Fogoyle is continuing througout 2017. A series of six books, four more short stories and a final novella, is planned for various release dates throughout the year. Two full length novels will be out. One in February (Death of a Secret, available for pre-order now) and one in April (Terrible Friend, available early March for pre-order). An online training course (with 3 pre-released ebooks) is being developed for enrollment in July!
The rest of the year is still being worked out, but it's looking like a third novel is possible early Fall and I might start another series of short stories just in time for Halloween!

Sleep on it! If you can fall asleep easily and sleep through the night with a million plot bunnies fornicating and multiplying inside your head at a high rate of speed and a burning inside you that only subsides when you put pen to paper, writing probably isn't for you.
It takes a dedication like no other to "be a writer". Everyone writes something from time to time. Some people write a lot, like in daily journals or at work. Then there are writers. Those that put pen to paper every free second that they get. Not because they want to but because they have to. They can't sleep at night if they don't.
If that's you, then you are a writer and you should be writing!

Procrastination prevents me from being capable of contracting writer's block. I have never sat down with a blank page and not had something to write. I struggle more with getting my butt in the chair, shutting everything else out, and writing.
To treat it, I have found that helping other people and reminding them that it's time to write helps motivate me to practice what I preach and get to it.
