Well, embellishing a bit fiction's sake, how about this?
A favorite uncle dies in a plane crash while the main character is only ten. Later in life, when the character tries to flesh out family tree info for his own small children, details of the uncle's death don't add up.

Book 4 "Susan's Bridge" tells the story of how Susan succeeded in her quest to get additional food aid to the town of Cheshire. It turned out that there was a lot more to her story than just a truckload of food.
