I was inspired to write from all of the people trying to break into Major League Baseball. They would email me or call to ask for advice and I used to tell Tommy Lasorda that one day I'm going to write a book. That way I wouldn't have to answer all of the emails or take the tremendous amount of phone calls from people seeking advice. They could just get the book!
