Hello Zo! Thank you for sharing your excitement about The Unknown! My dystopian novels were inspired by my fascination with the dystopian worlds in books like Suzanne Collins' The Hunger Games, Veronica Roth's Divergent, and Lois Lowry's The Giver. I especially enjoy writing about worlds that have shocking secrets that the characters discover during the course of the story.

Thank you so much for reading Kid Docs, Avery! I'm glad you liked it! I came up with the idea for Kid Docs when I was in medical school. What if, I wondered, gifted kids could start their medical training when they were very young? Is it possible that these kids would be better doctors than people who started training as adults?
Most of my other books are inspired by my real-life experiences as well: working with tigers, lions, leopards, monkeys, bears, and elephants (Wild Animal School); living in Southern California (Lost in Los Angeles); and visiting Japan (Lost in Tokyo). My science fiction series (Above the Sky series) is set in a dystopian future society and is inspired by my imagination, although I did consult with an engineer, a pilot, and a former Navy SEAL as I was researching the novels.
I'll have to talk to someone who works for the secret service. If I end up writing a book about it, I will let you know.
