Lise Arin I am looking forward to more Anthony Trollope, more Somerset Maugham and more Graham Greene!
Lise Arin Thank you! It came out yesterday, officially, although the snowstorm is slowing down deliveries. Matilda Empress took me twenty years to get published -- I don't even really remember how I chose this woman's story from among my many, many ideas. It was 1995! I'm writing another book now, and it was hard to select the heroine from my list -- but both times I was motivated to explore a real character about whom little is known. Much more room to maneuver! This second novel is about a woman whose name isn't even sure, nor her mother's name, although her father is notorious.
Lise Arin Controlling your own schedule, a perk unavailable to those in most other professions. Being able, for the most part, to take your job with you on vacation, so as to have both more vacation, and more work, always.
Lise Arin I play music appropriate to the genre and the historical period. It really stimulates my imagination. Or I exercise, and think about the book to keep my mind off the exercising! Writing seems easier, in comparison, and I come away with many new ideas. Or I drink coffee. Actually, I always drink coffee, through thick and thin.
