That is a million dollar question. I think every writer, at some point, suffers from writer's block, and I am no exception. I guess the simplest answer is to just continue to write whatever comes into your head. You can always erase it, rephrase it, expand on it, or, at some later point discover, "Hey, this isn't so bad, after all." You'd be surprised how often the later occurs.

For me, it is escaping from reality -- from politics, poverty, war, taxes, etc. It is like stepping into another world. When I am writing, I am in control of the characters, their hopes, dreams, circumstances, and their ultimate destiny. I can make or break a character, where right and might are not always the same.

At the moment, I am back into Nineteenth Century Historical Romances. "The Cornish Mystique" is about a vicar's daughter who, through circumstances beyond her control, ends up an employee in an handsome bachelor's estate in Cornwall. But you can be sure that all is not well!

I've always been a dreamer -- and a romantic! The first book I ever read, just for pleasure, was "Jane Eyre." It was back in the late 60's, I believe. After that, I dove, head first, into an ocean of one romance book after another. I loved the basic Cinderella theme and somewhere along the way, I began to want to write one of my own.

Honestly, I don't know. The idea, I think, had been simmering in the recesses of my brain for a long time. When I began writing "Apache," westerns were still the big rage on TV but with the same old plotline. Only western movies offered interesting, and different themes. Since romance has been around since the beginning of time, I wondered what would happen if........... and that is how it began.
