What’s the best thing about being a writer?
T.K. Perry I love that I can dream up my own entertainment. There's always a story and characters churning in my head; wondering what they're going to do and what's going to happen is really fun for me.

How do you deal with writer’s block?
T.K. Perry When I get stuck, I focus on my minor characters and what they might have been doing in the interim to impact the story.

Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?
T.K. Perry I was reading Cornelia Funke's Inkheart where she talked about how some fairies had dragonfly wings and others butterfly wings. It made me think about all the odd biology of bugs and how interesting it would be to combine those with a human. The Winged series is really just the science fiction version of fairies.
