I always have several projects going at once. So, if I get stuck on one plot, I move on to something else. Sometimes it helps to give my brain a break from something I have been staring at for awhile.

I guess I'm supposed to say that the best thing about being a writer is that I get to do it with my daughter. However, that won't always be the case. The best thing about being a writer is having a personal relationship with the characters in my head and meeting readers who love (and hate) them too.

Read a lot! Write everything down. If you have an idea - even if all it is is a simple piece of dialog - write it down. Don't quit reading. Don't quit writing. Don't let anyone's negativity dull your creativity.

Whenever I am between books in the Secrets Series - like I am now - I work on my short story series, Myra: Everlasting (it's about vampires). Since we just finished Secrets Revealed, we will begin working on the prequel to the Secrets Series, Long Ago Secrets.

My office is upstairs in my bedroom. I can look out the window into the woods behind our house. Anytime I can look outdoors or be outdoors, I find inspiration.

Olivia and I were just hanging out, talking one day. She said, "What would we do if one day we woke up and there was a bloody handprint on the outside of the window?" From there, we started brainstorming until the bloody handprint turned into a full plot.
