Mihwa Lee As the teacher’s voice faded into the background, I gazed out the dark window—just as Charlie knocked on the glass from outside. I lifted my hand to wave, then suddenly remembered I was on the third floor.
Mihwa Lee I'm writing the second book to my Rogues Worth Saving series, a Regency romance with steam. It's a story about Cameron Pembroke, who makes his appearance in my debut novel, Saving the Marquess. Cameron meets and falls in love with Asilia whose mother was the first black noblewoman in Britain (inspired by Sarah Fobes Bonetta Davies). They share the love of endurance horse racing and she convinces him to accompany her to the 3000-mile race in Arabia. They don't make it to the race, however, due to events that occur and revelations learned on the way there. The story has high tension, 3+ steam level. Tropes incl: secret identity, forced proximity, fake relationship. To be published by November 2023.
Mihwa Lee I was a child living with my parents in Iran during the Iranian Revolution in 1979. During that time, my father had many Iranian friends who worked for the Iranian Air Force. Some of them disappeared during the revolution, but one particular man, an Air Force pilot, sticks out in my mind. He was the kindest man I had met up to that point. He was young, in his 20s, 6'2", extremely handsome, and made everything fun for us, kids. He was the first playful adult I encountered, and he was from a different culture. He taught me acceptance, tolerance, and how to play. At a time when the revolutionaries were murdering Asians, because we represented Pahlavi and were taking jobs away from them, he taught me not all Iranians were like that. I learned not to generalize. I would love to know what happened to him.
