I pay attention to little things. It might be a song, a setting or a picture. If a strong idea is implanted, I jot it down in a file called plot bunnies.

Never say never, but once I started writing down my stories and ideas several years ago, I haven't experienced writer's block. Sometimes, life gets in the way and I miss days or a week of not writing, but I could easily put a story down and six months later take a peek and write a chapter where I left off. I'm sure this is rare. If I stumble on an idea, I open a different file and dive into another story.

Writing literally saved my mental health. I get the biggest rush from simply ending a chapter. Finishing a story is like having a party in my head with balloons, streamers and champagne.

Read and write. You have to practice like any other talent to get better.

I got the idea for "The Price of Penny" because it seems so many people have preconceived notions how the other half lives. We live in a society that revolves around the famous or how to be famous, particularly because of the Internet and social media. Overall, it seems like Hollywood and/or the famous stick together and run in certain crowds. I wanted to explore a relationship between someone with loads of fame and someone who never desired such things. My plot exploded from there and it ended up evolving that the non-famous character (Penny) was the most complicated of them all.
