Dana Perry To be honest, the idea for Ascendence's Protector originated in one crazy, action-packed dream. I don't remember quite when the other characters came to me, but it was most likely while I was trying to occupy my mind as I put away books in a local library.
Dana Perry That's a hard question, because writing is so rewarding as an outlet. I think my favorite thing at the moment is seeing people fall in love with the characters I've created. There are few feelings that can top that.
Dana Perry Well, you see, I've been staring at this question for about five minutes now, trying to think of what to write. See the irony there?
I've got nothing.
Dana Perry Here's a secret: I read. I read a lot. So much so that often times, plots and characters start to blend together into a big but pleasurable mess. I wanted to do something a little different, enough where (hopefully) anyone who read my book could be left with a little more than a blurry, pleasant memory. The jury's still out on whether I succeeded, but hey! I gave it a whirl.
Dana Perry What I've found to be a good rule of thumb is that if you physically react (smiling, laughing, gasping, etc) to the first thought of the scene, that scene deserves to be given a shot. Write it down, flesh it out. With any luck, you'll make something that readers will love just as much as you.
