Baret Magarian I was on a coach going from London to Oxford if memory serves and I was thinking about the F.Scott Fitzgerald story Tender is the Night and something about the central relationship clicked in my mind and I married the idea of a fusion of two people - a simbiotic relationship - with the idea of a story that comes true. The two notions seemed to go together quite well ..
Baret Magarian It's like waiting for a breeze, a particular shaft of light, it's like fishing, dreaming, preparing a meal. Writing is waiting, waiting, waiting for the thing, the idea unadorned and simple and beautiful. It's very mysterious, very magical.

Baret Magarian My advice to aspiring writers is to carefully construct and wear at all time a metaphorical helmet to protect yourselves from all the knocks, blows and bruises that are inherent in this enterprise!
