Stacy Gold Oh, Middle Earth for sure. Preferably before the war with Sauron ramps up, so I can visit the Elves in Rivendell. And the Shire. And the Ents. And, and, and...
Stacy Gold I don't generally have a summer reading list. Or a reading list at all that's particularly formal. I read a lot based on recommendations from other authors. That said. Colleen Hoover has a couple books out I haven't read yet, and I haven't read the sequel to Courtney Milan's Trade Me. I'll likely finish the Frisky Beavers series at some point, too. Not to mention beta reading and ARC reviews sure to come from other authors I know.
Stacy Gold My mother is from Switzerland. She and her sister have had a strained relationship as long as I can remember, that seems related to something from their childhood. When I lived over there with my Grandparents, I tried to figure out what had happened all those years ago, and never even got a hint. Perhaps it was something to do with the famous artist who sketched my mother, but not my aunt???
Stacy Gold While I love losing myself in a world of my own creation, I think I'd have to say it's having the opportunity to make a real, positive impact on someone else through my stories and characters.

Over the years, there have been a few books that truly changed the way I saw myself or the people or world around me. They impacted my life, my relationships, and my behaviors in the best possible ways by showing me a different perspective on life, love, and the pursuit of happiness. I hope that someday I can do the same for some of my readers.
Stacy Gold Even though they didn't get their happily ever after, I've loved Scarlett and Rhett since I first read Gone with the Wind in third grade. She's so feisty and determined, if often misguided. And he's strong and passionate and totally gets her, even though she isn't the typical woman of the time period.
Stacy Gold I get out in the world and go on adventures. Terrific ideas often come to me when I'm skiing or mountain biking or hiking. I'm also a firm believer that if you want new ideas to come out of your brain, you have to put new experiences in. I try to do that every week by going on adventures in the outdoors, going dancing, going to a play, trying a new restaurant, watching a movie I've never seen, and reading voraciously in my genre and others.
Stacy Gold To me, there is no such thing as an aspiring writer, only aspiring authors. To be a writer, all you have to do is write. To be a good writer, and ultimately a published author, you also need to read great writing in your genre and learn the craft through books, classes, workshops, etc.

I also can't say enough about finding a terrific critique partner. I would not be where I am today as an author if it wasn't for mine, Harlequin author Laurel Greer.
Stacy Gold Right now I'm writing a second short ski story to follow Just Friends, and getting ready to edit the first draft of my upcoming mountain biking novella Somebody to Love. I'm also halfway through third round edits on my full length, steamy contemporary novel Again.
Stacy Gold I don't really experience what I consider writer's block. Usually, when I'm struggling to write a scene, it's because I haven't approached it correctly. That means I typically need to flesh out the backstory more, change the point of view character for the scene, or do more outlining to figure out where it needs to go. When all that fails, I grab my dog and go for a hike, bike ride or ski.
Stacy Gold The idea for this book came from a chance encounter with an old ski buddy of mine I knew from when I lived in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. I was skiing with my hubby, and my sister and her family in Washington State, when a familiar voice called my name across the emergency parking lot at Crystal Mountain, reconnecting us after ten years apart. The rest is fiction, but it made for a great start to this short, steamy ski romance.
