Read every waking second that you can, especially in your genre. Go to readings. Take classes, online or otherwise. Join writing groups. Read slush pile for journals. Give time to the work every day, and make it your best time if you can.

By living, out in the real world as much as possible. Walking in natural and urban environments. Attending poetry and other readings. Spending time with family and friends. Reading books in all genres.
