For me, the most amazing thing about being a writer is the power to create. I design fictional communities and unique characters. As an author, I decide who my characters will be. Their names, incomes, and personalities are completely within my control. I send them where I want them to go. They speak the words I want them to say. It's a thrilling and exhausting experience that I love.

My favorite fictional couple is Henry Tilney and Catherine Moreland from "Northanger Abbey." I like this Austen couple because the hero knew a good thing when he saw it. This couple didn't play games with each other. They embraced their attraction and spoke honestly. I've got a soft spot in my heart for kind vicars. Like Jane Austen's father, my father was also a member of the clergy.
