Walking! Going down to my local beach, no music; just listen to the waves and lose yourself in your thoughts. So many times I have done this, and it helped me complete Lake Merrin in under a year!
Also writers groups, I can not stress enough how they can assist you with your writing and of course that dreaded writer's block.
I had a scene in my upcoming book that I wrote myself into a loop and could escape. One of my writer friends said, just stop and go to the next chapter. Simple but it helped me with the continuation of Lake Merrin!

Everything! Meeting new authors, not worrying about trying to live a life under the thumb of people that don't have your best interest at heart. Just losing yourself in creation.

Like a fantastic person said to me, she asked me when I was unsure about my future as a writer.
'Do you write?' she asked
with little confidence, I replied. 'Yes.'
She smiled and said with conviction, 'Then you are a writer!'
Since then I always have past on this piece of advice, as that first step can be the hardest!
Another piece of advice I give is, 'Don't ever worry about your first draft, what you need to do is get that story out of your head and on the page! The world needs your story!'

I love to tell stories; it started when I was 6-years-old. I used to gather the prep kids and tell them fantastical stories that came to me. Two of my favourites are the Planet Pluto come down to earth in the form of a small child, to learn about friendship. The other is about Ghost, and how they look after and motivate playing and fun in children. But there are Tricky Ghost that hates 'play-time', so the Fun Ghosts have to stop them with the Smart Ghosts

I am an avid gamer and years ago I created an idea about retired adventurers. When I was starting this game, I thought to myself 'hang on maybe this is delving a little too deep into my story'. So on the fly, I change it.
Which then it seems to become my style, telling a story by a third party recollecting the past, then going back to that time and living like it was the present. The group of people I gathered to help me create my world, was the best thing that could happen as they help me expand it to what it revealed in Lake Merrin.
