Gina Morris I woke up one morning and God gave me the title and the outline. This was a first, but I appreciated it because I have struggled in these areas in time past, so it was refreshing to know where I'm going with this one. However, that does not mean that it will turn out the way I foresee it.
Gina Morris Things that I have learned or experienced, but mostly God inspires me. I am also inspired by controversy, pop culture, religion, relationships, ect. Anything that I feel strongly about gives voice to my writing.
Gina Morris I am currently working on a book about the state of the church today and what I feel God is trying to do to bring revolution, revival, and authenticity back to the body of Christ.
Gina Morris My answer is to write. I taught writing for years as an English teacher. I was always amazed at what students were able to express through their writing that I would have never known about them otherwise. Writing is an opportunity to express to the world your deepest and most profound innermost thoughts. It can be intimidating yet exhilarating at the same time. What I have found, however, is when the thoughts are unbridled and honest, it doesn't matter how the words come out as much as the vulnerability and gut wrenching truth that is uttered that makes one say, "Selah".
Gina Morris I would have to say, for me, the best thing about being a writer is that you get to clearly articulate your ideas and thoughts without someone interrupting or your being concerned about how someone is receiving what you are saying. Sometimes, because I tend to be somewhat transparent and honest in my writings, people can purposely or inadvertently intimidate you with their expressions as you communicate in person. In writing your only critic or source of inspiration is the inward conversation from within where the ideas flow and come together. This is what makes writing an intimate yet profound art form.
Gina Morris When I can't seem to flow in my writing, I simply wait and see what happens after I give it a while. It may take a day or two, but usually it comes back to me or I may get inspired by something I see or hear. I like to be open to all types of inspirational moments. The best times, however, is when I wake up and I know that it is time to write. Usually during these times I can write for hours and keep going.
