The idea to actually write my first book came from both my wife and my mom. They both encouraged me to write a book and I hesitated. But once I went through my transformation, that was it! I had a well-rounded story to tell!

I get inspired to write when I see people getting stopped by circumstances in their lives that I know, and can see from an outside perspective, that they can easily overcome the situation and live the exact life they want and deserve. I also get inspired when I read other books.

My advice for aspiring writers is to start writing. Stop editing as you write. Just put it all out there and worry about it when you re-write. Because you WILL RE-WRITE. I was once told that writing is all about re-writing, and now that I'm a full-time writer, I see it in action. Get that 'vomit' draft out and then go back and make it great. This goes for screenplays as well as books.

The best thing about being a writer is the fact that everything I write is a pure creation of my own. It doesn't have to be approved by someone else and there isn't a bunch of moving parts involved. I've created music as well as video/film and both of those mediums take more than one person and a whole mess of tools. But with writing, I can sit down with me, my computer/phone/pen&pad and start creating! I love it.

I don't actually get writer's block. I used to. But then I realized that if I just sit my butt down and start typing, something will come out! And guess what? That's writing! So there will never be a case where I have a block.
