Ashley Ladd First, I give myself permission just to write, even if the first draft is horrible. If that doesn't work, then I reread what I've written (at least the last several pages) and sometimes even edit what I'm rereading.
Ashley Ladd I'm the Goddess of my worlds. I create people, indeed entire worlds and universes with the flick of my wrist. I have the power of life and death, happiness and grief, laughter and tears over my characters.
Ashley Ladd Read a lot, particularly in your intended genre, but also diversify.

Also, give yourself permission to write a crappy first draft. Just write. Get your ideas down on paper, even if it's pure dialogue. Later you will edit and fill in the blanks.

Ashley Ladd Reading a good story inspires me to write my own. A really good book, especially when the writing is music to my eyes and the characters won't leave my mind even when I put down the story, inspires me to write more than anything else.
Ashley Ladd I'm a food show junkie. I LOVE watching Gordon Ramsey's shows and Food Network so a cooking story was bound to pop out eventually.
