Lori Soard I am a born and bred Hoosier. I love my state. It has a diverse landscape with lakes and dunes in the north, flat plains in the middle and rolling hills in the south. It's bordered by forests and rivers and Ohio, Illinois, Kentucky and Michigan. My favorite part of Indiana is the heartbeat of the state. The little towns that give the state its flavor and where good Hoosier hospitality still lives and breathes. I could spend hours telling you all about it or you could get to know Indiana better through my books. Not ALL of my books are set in my home state but many are.
Lori Soard I know a lot of people don't like Jane Austen but I'd jump right into Emma or Pride and Prejudice. I'd sit with the families, attend the balls and be a fly on the wall.
Lori Soard I am reading The Brides of Pelican Rapids series to catch up. I'm contributing a book next year so want to understand what's come before mine.
Lori Soard What an interesting question. I have never really understood why my brilliant, kind and talented cousin Michael was taken from me at such a young age. I loved him so dearly and I still miss him to this day. I had a really hard time accepting his death as a 20-year-old girl. I came up with all types of scenarios as to how the CIA had faked his death etc. because they'd been interested in him due to his computer skills. It would make an interesting plot for a book but I'm not sure I could write it without crying all the way through it.
Lori Soard I'm working on Book # 2 in the Cupid's Crossing series. It will be called Change of Heart and is Sinclaire's story.
Lori Soard I actually was working on a different book and created this fictional town called Cupid's Crossing. As I filled in a map with buildings and who lived or worked in those buildings, one character in particular was calling out to have her story told and that was Gracie Require, the owner of a small nursing home.
Lori Soard Write from the heart and never listen to the naysayers. Even Harrison Ford was told he'd never make it as an actor. Naysayers never know what they're talking about. Use their criticism to spur you to success.
Lori Soard I have always adored the written word. I feel so very blessed to be able to write for a living.
Lori Soard I am in complete denial that there is such a thing. If I am stuck on a scene in my novel, I go work on something different, such as editing or writing an article, or my website. However, I set up so many hours a day to work on my craft and I do that. Even if I have to just sit in front of my computer and type, "I don't know what to write."
Lori Soard I do everything I can to avoid it. I will clean house, which I loathe, call up friends and family, go shopping, start craft projects, and anything else I can think of. Finally, I seem to gather up the creativity to get started. Once I sit down and start writing, it usually flows really well. I'm just a procrastinator about starting.
