Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Douglas E. Thompson I was working on a project about churches and lynchings in the first quarter of the twentieth century South. Since that work took such a heavy toll on my emotionally, I began to look for a different kind of project. Many of my sources were located in Richmond and I noticed some of them were doing remarkable work with regard to desegregating schools and even churches. That is how I began writing Richmond's Priests and Prophets.
