Time. Walk away, think of other ideas and come back to it. I also find that talking the idea and the block through with someone helps, let them offer ideas, I usually find that I will have reasons why I don't believe that their idea works and that allows me to overcome the problem. Having someone else offer ideas, will allow you to ask questions that you never realised were there.

Do it. Don't worry about the reactions, don't worry about failing, just do it. I have spoken to so many people who say they want to write a book, if you have stories to tell, tell them. I would also say that don't limit yourself to just one story, I have found that better stories come from exploring different options, it is so easy to become fixated on one idea, that fixation can translate into a bit of a muddle.

City of Red Tales. A follow up to my debut novel, but more of an offshoot, a spin-off. It is a collection of short stories set in the same world but separate from each other and told in different styles.

I watch the world around me. I watch people and their reactions to life. I create stories from what I see, often the stories do not make it to my writing, but I am always creating a new story in my head.

I was in a low place in my life, I had taken a career change and it was not working out for me, I found myself angry and frustrated, so I decided to unload my thoughts and create a new world to lose myself in. There are many stories in the City of Red, so my inspiration was all around me, but I wanted to write a story that explored the dark side of life, not just the darkness in one villain.
