How do you stop inspiration? I don't know ... I'm one of those people that can look at a crumpled piece of paper and think very, very small, (the edges of the creases folding over to meet the intersection of the fibrous material of the second edge) to very, very large, (how much mass is that crumpled paper compared to the floor, to the room, to a whale? LOL) Who, what, where, when, and why. On a small scale. On a large scale. Now start over and do it again. See? Inspiration! By the numbers! LOL

I am working on the second book in The Bittersweet Series called Bittersweet: Revenge. It had actually been at the ending of Bittersweet: Sanctuary, but the book was becoming too long so I cut it and used what was left over for the beginning of the second book. Computer writing programs are a wonderful thing! I remember when I was a kid trying to write a book by using a notebook, pen and paper. THE HORROR! There was no "backspace" and when you were trying to find a certain spot in the story, it was an impossible mess. Now? I can rearrange chapters, search for words, make sure names are spelled the same on secondary characters throughout a story ... awesome possum! ;) AND my document will tell me how many words a story is and I can "wrap things up" so I don't become too long winded ... like this answer ... LOL

The rhythm of what you have written must feel like conversation. If you can't read it easily, then either a)what you've written is crahp, or b)what you've written is not in your "voice" (and a demon has taken over your body while you were typing ... er, um, just kidding! LOL) And if you are trying to make your story "Universal," then you must write like the average person speaks. That's the hard part. I write with funny inflections and long convoluted sentences. It's how I speak. And then in my editing, I have to reword my sentence structures to make it more average, though it will never become COMPLETELY average ... I just can't do it! ;) I read somewhere that Steven King is so easily read because he writes short sentences with easily understood words. I typically write long, looong drawn out sentences with five syllable words that need dictionaries for deciphering ... LOL I never said I was easy! LOL And I figure if you're going to pick up a book to read, let's learn a little something while we're doing it! :)

Writer's block? If I have writer's block, it's because I'm dilly-dally-lolly-gagging around, picking up stuff, rearranging furniture, dusting, feeding a horse a carrot, what-have-yous... If I sit down, and put my fingers to the keyboard, something taps out. It may not be what I want! LOL But SOMETHING comes out. But to make a point of a SPECIFIC something be written? That requires me to open up some programs and reread my previous work, get into the flow of things, and then whalah! I guess I'm lucky that way, eh? :)

Staring off into space and having it considered "work?" LOL Actually, all the research . . . I love to research. I love to learn new things. I'm a bit of a know-it-all. That said, I know a little about everything but not a lot about anything . . . except horses. I do know a lot about horses . . . go ahead, ask me anything about HORSES! LOL
