J. Blackshear I'm currently re-reading The Hobbit, but I'm reading it out loud to a toddler, so it's a real adventure haha :D
J. Blackshear Inspiration just hits me like a lightning bolt. Also, I read a lot and listen to a lot of NPR. I get so many ideas just from listening to the news.
J. Blackshear The best thing about being a writer is when someone makes a connection with something that I've written. It's a surreal feeling.
J. Blackshear Radiolab. I hate to give away all my secrets, but I get a lot of my ideas from listening to Radiolab (and some other shows on NPR).
J. Blackshear I like to keep several pots on the fire. I'm currently working on the next book in the "Psalms of the Apocalypse" series, the next book in the "Blackstar" series, AND a novel set in present day California.
J. Blackshear Write! And don't spend all your time wallowing in the opinions of other people. So long as your grammar and spelling is on point, you really don't need other people to critique your work. Write with your own voice and be proud of it!
J. Blackshear I just keep writing! If I try to deal with writer's block in any other way, then I end up procrastinating longer and longer and in the end not writing anything at all. But If I keep on smashing those keys, before I know it, I'm producing decent work.

Also, I don't force myself to write about something I'm not in the mood to write. I've always got several projects going at once, so there's generally something that fits my mood.
