There is no mystery, but I draw from my own life experiences almost exclusively in my writing.

For the most part, I’m inspired by love, friendship, and acts of kindness, but I’m also inspired by injustices I’ve personally lived through or witnessed, read about, or seen on television or in movies. I hope that my writing draws upon these things and reveals how people need to work through their troubles, often together, to eventually find meaning, understanding, and peace in their lives.

I don’t’ know that I’m qualified to answer this question because I really do think of myself as an aspiring writer. What I can say is that after waiting far, far too long, I finally took the plunge and just started to write. So if there was any advice I could offer, it would be just do it! Don’t let anyone or anything stop you! Just write!
Join Goodreads groups, Facebook groups, writing forums, or local writing groups. They’re a good place to start for support and advice. Also, find people you can trust to give you honest critiques of your work. Avoid using your spouse/significant other, other family members, or close friends. As much as they may try, they have a vested interest in you, and you can never be sure that their opinions are unbiased.

I don’t know that I’ve experienced true writer’s block yet, but there have been times when I’ve struggled with scenes and there have been times when my mind becomes so filled with ideas that I can’t make heads or tails of them. When that happens I’ll take a day, several days, or even a week off and do things that are completely unrelated to writing. Then all of a sudden, the words seem like they’re struggling to get out, and I can sit down again and let them fly free.

I’m currently editing book two of my “Lightning” series.

I really can't say for sure where the idea for “From Lightning to Love” came from, but I began to think about writing a gay novel while there was still snow on the ground in early 2016. The following spring, I woke up one morning with an overwhelming sense that today is the day I'm going to write. My notes say that was May 15, 2016.
I had no idea where to begin, so I just sat down and started to write. Before I knew it, I'd completed the first rough draft of chapters 1 - 4. While I wrote, I thought, “What setting would force two men who didn’t know each other to live together in total isolation and create an environment that would be conducive to falling in love? What if there was also a dependency for survival?”
After doing a web search for the most isolated region of the continental United States, I happened upon the Wasatch Range of the Rocky Mountains in southeastern Idaho, and the story was born.
