I'll try. HA! I never tried writing a horror story before!

I don't plan out my reading lists since I read so many different genres. Of course, I'll read & review several picture books. I need all the help I can get in marketing so I'll read what I can of Rob Eagar's (marketing pro) books. I always try to find a new young adult fantasy & a new Barbara Delinsky book for summer too!

How do I deal? Well, there are several ways. In fact, I wrote an article about this. Go outside and go for a walk, visit a neighbor or whatever you like to do outside. Excersise. Get that blood circulating! Read a book you're really into right now. It doesn't matter what it is, just read. Maybe go out in the warm weather and read? Knit, crochet or whatever your hobby is. Start a new story or article. Write a letter. The point of all this is, is to get your mind off of your WIP and give it a break. You'll come back to it with fresh eyes and ready to go!

I think the best answer is several answers. Remember the cliche' 'never give up'? That's great advice. Don't do that since rejections (lots of them) are par for the course. Another one is to read what you write. It helps you to keep on on the changing tastes of kids and what they like to read. Also, attend online and physical writing conferences. This will help you keep up-to-date in the ever-changing children's book market. If you review children's books, that helps too.

I'm working on a few different things right now. I've been trying to write outside of my comfort zone with a young adult book about the War of 1812. I'm also working on a middle-grade book about a girl who's family moves to the country. I might re-write that one to give it a different slant. I'm also working on a non-fiction article.

I got the idea when I was in elementary school. I love animals and I love parties. Back then, it seemed like a good combination and it was!
