Susan A. Howard I am currently working on Book 2 of my children's series, Mist and Mercy, a fiction novel for adults, and a young adult novel.
Susan A. Howard Write what you love. Write the stories you would like to read. Write about the things you hold dear, relevant and true. And write to lift up, not to tear down. The purpose of good art is not so much to express oneself, but to ennoble mankind.
Susan A. Howard Well, my great uncle disappeared without a trace after an argument with my great grandmother one day. Walked out of the house and was never seen again by anyone. No remains, no word. My grandfather passed away without ever knowing what happened to his brother.
Susan A. Howard I don't deal with writer's block. If I have nothing to say, there is no reason to write.
Susan A. Howard The best thing about writing is having a vehicle to channel the many thoughts, ideas and storylines that would otherwise crowd my brain. Writing is therapeutic that way.
Susan A. Howard I don't get inspired to write as much as I get inspired to uncover a story that demonstrates certain truths. I spend a lot of time thinking about things I appreciate, wonder about, or believe. Often I ask myself, how can I share this idea with others? That leads me to play out scenarios in my head... if this were to happen, if one had that experience, if someone responded to this event in that certain way.... All of a sudden, a plot framework starts to build and characters move in.
